Message Hello, my name is Austin TTZ and I am a mod-a-holic.

About nine months ago I was looking to capitalize on my good fortune and a great stock market by purchasing a new toy. I have always been a die hard car nut, and I love taking a great car and making it better. I have owned a few American muscle cars and always have a truck or a Jeep to take care of off-road duties. I was considering many vehicles at the time. I had already put down a deposit on an S2000, many of my friends have Boxster's or Boxter S's so I was considering one of those as well. I liked the idea of buying used as it always a better "bang for the buck" proposition in comparison to driving a car off the showroom floor. I started looking at M3's, Supra, and Twin Turbo Z's. By chance, I found twinturbo.net when I was doing a general search for "twin turbo Z". After opening an account I began to hang out and read all about what you can do these great cars. The idea of buying a used Z really intrigued me. I have always loved the lines and I had no idea how fast you could make them. I decided to start looking for a Z and see if I could find one that was in good enough condition to buy.

After a few weeks of searching, I found a car in Georgia (I am in Texas) that looked promising. Unfortunately it was at a dealership. I called and asked about the car. It was a 1990 TT w. 25.2K miles. The guy I talked to said it was just in the used car showroom to draw in customers. I asked if he knew anything about the car and he said it looked perfect but he would try to find out more about the owner. He said a 55 year old dude traded it in for a Ford F350. I asked if I could get him to call me so that I could talk to him about the car. He did, and he said that he "grew out of his mid-life crisis" and that is why he traded it in. He said he kept it in his garage and totally babied it, only drove it about 2-3K miles per year. I told the sales guy that I would be willing to pay a premium if it was in as good condition as he claimed. The only catch was, I told him he had to ship it to my mechanic on a flatbed for inspection. 1000 miles and a pre-car inspection later, it was mine.

Unfortunately, I had no idea what I was in for. The car was totally stock when I bought it. It didn't even have tint. I knew I wanted to put in a nice stereo and take it to Stage III right away. What I did not know is how obsessed you can get with these cars. To date I have done more to the car than I initially intended and I have found that I cannot stop myself. Of course, twinturbo.net is to blame! I have had the opportunity to meet a few members: Mike(Austin), Nixit, and Michael(Dallas) to name a few. And I have bought things from a few members as well. (Got/Had Rice? got some of my monies!) Anyway, were it not for tt.net, I would probably have never purchased a Z. ( I could have even ended up with a Slupra! Thank God THAT didn't happen! ;-) ) Now I am just like all you other mod-a-holics. I have put about 4.5K miles on the car this past nine months and, of course, I already need a new clutch. I know that when I get a clutch I might as well replace the precats, and if I do that I might as well replace the main cats, and since I will have it in the shop I am sure I will go ahead and do the boost controller and intercoolers..... and, well you all know how it goes.

I want to thank all the members I have met and the forum in general for leading me down the twinturbo path. While I have spent more than I care to add up, I must say I am happy when I go for a hill-country cruise w. my bros in their Boxsters and M3's. I know that my Z looks as good or better than their more expensive German cars and they don't have a chance of keeping up with me when twin..... turbos..... kick...... in!

Thanks for EVERYTHING tt.net!
